Head Women's Wrestling Coach

The part-time head women’s wrestling coach is expected to recruit student-athletes that can be successful academically, socially, and athletically at Northland. Lead and develop a competitive softball program such as recruiting, coaching, and managing the team's overall performance and academic success. The coach would also be responsible for administrative tasks like scheduling opponents, budgeting, and fundraising, as well as working on the softball field to prepare for games and practices. Significant travel for recruiting, as well as with the team for games. The part-time head women’s softball coach must demonstrate a commitment to the following:

  • Student success as well as athletic success
  • Setting high expectations for student athletes in their roles as team members, members of the student body, and residents of our communities
  • Recruiting an increasing number of student athletes from regional high schools
  • Adherence to NJCAA and MCAC policies, rules, and regulations, and Minnesota State and
  • NCTC policies and procedures related to purchasing, financial management, travel regulations, and the student code of conduct

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and coach members of the women’s softball program

  • Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide for individual and team development

  • Assist in scheduling games and facilities for practice

  • Organize and schedule road trips

  • Ensure the proper care and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and uniforms

  • Coordinate the development and promotion of the women’s wrestling program by communicating with the news media and various clubs and organizations

  • Assign duties to assistant coaches as necessary

  • Establish and maintain standards of behavior and provide proper student-athlete supervision

  • Developing strategies for student academic success and retention

  • Assist in tracking student-athlete eligibility

  • Perform administrative tasks including budget formulation

  • Assist in generating additional funds for support of the program

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience coaching wrestling at the high school or college level
  • Valid unencumbered drivers license

Preferred Qualification

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience coaching at the college level
  • Knowledge of NJCAA eligibility rules
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of students

Other Requirements

In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
