Automotive Service Technology Adjunct Instructor

Northland Community and Technical College is seeking a motivated and skilled Automotive Service Technology Adjunct Instructor to support the preparation of the next generation of automotive technicians. This position will primarily teach first-year automotive courses in a hands-on, student-centered learning environment that emphasizes technical skill development, safety, and industry readiness.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction in first-year Automotive Service Technology courses, including foundational automotive systems
  • Facilitate hands-on lab activities aligned with industry standards and safety practices
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and success
  • Assess student learning through assignments, labs, and evaluations
  • Maintain current knowledge of automotive technologies and industry trends
  • Support student development in technical skills, problem-solving, and workplace readiness
  • Collaborate with faculty and program leadership to ensure program quality and consistency

Salary Range:

The current salary range is up to $71,893. Part-time faculty pay is determined by the number of assignment credits. Please note: Initial salary placement is determined on the basis of education and experience in accordance with the faculty contract.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement

Post-secondary diploma or equivalent certificate in Automotive Service Technology or a closely related field

Occupational Experience Requirement

Four (4) full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in automotive service technology

Professional Requirement

Current ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification in the areas assigned for instruction

Preferred Qualification

  • Prior teaching or training experience in a postsecondary or industry setting

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with emerging automotive technologies (hybrid, electric vehicles, diagnostics systems)

  • Commitment to student-centered teaching and learning
